Q: What is involved in a damp survey

Well, a damp survey carried out by Maystone Ltd involves a specialist technician and many pieces of specialist equipment to accurately diagnose the cause of damp. Unlike many other “damp specialist” firms we do not rely on finding expensive repair solutions. Instead we pride ourselves of diagnosing correctly.

Q: How to get a damp survey?

Easy. Contact us, tell us your concerns and we will book an engineer to carry out a damp survey for you.

Q: How long does a damp survey take?

Depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the damp problem, between 30 minutes to 2 hours on average.

We allocate up to 1 hour on site. It typically takes 1 hour and generally only goes over if we are doing a more involved survey such as a building defect leak. Your report is included in the price.

Q: How is a damp survey carried out?

The way Maystone carry out a survey is different to most. We work methodically and systematically taking everything in to account. Relative humidity readings, moisture mapping, thermography readings etc. All of this builds a picture for our engineer to accurately diagnose the cause of your damp.

Q: What is your report like?

Our damp reports are detailed & photographic, outlining exactly what was found and with recommendations for repair.

Q: Another firm said we can have our survey money back if we use them to do the work. Do you do that?

No. We want our surveys to be credible without you feeling we may be incentivised to find a certain type of damp in order to make lots of money on the repair.

Q: I have a leak, maybe on my roof somewhere but it’s not a burst pipe. Is this a damp survey or a leak detection?

We class this as penetrating damp. It is a leak caused by building defect. Sometimes the search process is more involved.

No. Get a second opinion.
